tabbed browsing

Would it be possible to alter the links for full-size viewing so that they do not insist on opening a new window?

As things are, I can avoid the new window by dragging the link to the tab bar - the image then opens in a new tab. If I forget, however, and use a keyboard short-cut to open the link in a new tab, the image opens in a new tab _but_ a new window also opens, comes to the foreground and sits empty. Since this takes time and since it happens on every such occasion, it is rather annoying.

I don't know how complicated this would be, but since most links on most sites respect tabbed browsing, I'd guess that is default and something specific is causing this.

This is on the latest version of Firefox on the latest version of Mac OS X (10.4.whatever-is-latest) but it's always been like this on Caedes in my experience.

Thoughts? Rabid disagreement? Wild enthusiasm?

I "middle click" 'em

but .. if your mouse is button challenged, you could, maybe, investigate your "tabbed browser" prefs .. and see if you can send ALL clicked links to a new tab

Mmm... no. As Caedes works now, this is a better set-up. If I send *all* links to new tabs, I'll very quickly drown in tabs. I often want things to open in the same tab and I prefer that as default. For most sites, my preferences work fine. Caedes is the only one which really annoys me often and if I change my preferences, it will be the only one that doesn't!

I have a 3-button mouse, but it is awkward to use the scroll-wheel to click. Easier to do option+click which also works when I've no mouse and only the track-pad. But if it works right for button-3, why can't it work right for option+click? They usually have the same effect, I wonder what the difference is here...

Well ..

the aforementioned extension will also open links in the current window ... as well as there being other tab-related extensions which I haven't investigated

working on the concept that a person waiting for code changes can witness the birth, life, and death of entire galaxies .. I only suggested this as a 'binky' to hold you over

Ah, I see. As such, the suggestion is most appreciated.

Sadly there seems to be an issue with the extension on Macs...
