Hi, i was just wondering were everyone gets their inspiration for their pics - i've been stuck for ages - i just can't seem to get out of the same pictures over and over and over...
(this could take a while)... and over and over again. It must be those photoshop filters, the same ones pull you in - if anyone knows of a way of breaking the (what i like to call) "those F***ing Filters syndrom" then drop us a line.
mostly, books (bd, novel, poetry), movies and the people here too inspire me.
you can also just walk on the street and look around, look on the publicity posters on the walls, sometimes it's just a sentence which could catch your attention
glooh advice is a good one too... just take a piece of paper and draw wathever came in your mind, writing random words and thought is helpful as well
if you feel you're doing the same thing all the time, well...
you could try to take one of your previous work and concentrate just on a little part of it. or you could divise it in squares. then for each square try a different approach, don't be afraid of mixing a lot of things ( like photo or words or just simple lines...)
there is nothing wrong with using filters, the important thing is to make people forget you used them...
If you're used to looking at the big picture look small or vice-versa. Work with a color you don't like untill you find a use for it. Go somewhere you usually don't go. Get ouside in the country or go to the gritty city streets. Take a chance on showing what's underneath those filters. If you collect something, (snow globes, green plastic army men, concert ticket stubs.) try to show us why you think it's so cool. make us look at it in a way we've never thought of it before.
I find music always helps, try creating an image based on a certain song/artist/album..........try and create a visual representation of what your listening to. I listen to a lot of dark music and I think it shows in my images!!!!!!!!!! On saying that if it's not happening then you can't force it......
I like the idea of working with colours you don't like Dreamer, might give this a go..though it does take a bit of self discipline not to revert back to what you like..and I'm not blessed with vast quantities of self discipline!
