Is the site running painfully slow or is it just my bad luck? I have found the site to be very slow running over the last several days. I have cable and did a speed test and I have the 5MB download speed that I get from Charter.net. I can get to other sites lickety split and I have tried both IE and Mozilla, but still the same problem. Maybe someone else has had this experience of late and maybe there is a good reason, but I thought I would pose the question because the slowness is detracting from my experience of navigating the site. Thanks. Cindy

No, not just you, me too. I have had to reload the New images gallery 3 or 4 times recently, before all the thumbnails would show, and wait ages (well it seems like ages) for the Discussion Board to load. I am on ADSL and have no problems loading other image intensive sites, so figured it was Caedes problem not mine.
Cindy, you beat me to it. I was considering posting this very question. I have Verizon fiber which has given me WINGS and this site is slow. Every other site flies but this one - not. I thought perhaps it's the site's contents that slow it down. I'm not a geek or genius so I can't say why it's slower than other sites. Perhaps a member of the senate could help us out here. ~Mary~

High speed cable here ... and as Randy has experienced, think that that one time frame in the early a.m. is when site maintenance is being performed ... can be a bit slow at times.
It's very slow..sometimes I read another site while I am waiting for this one to load.
It's most likely the traffic and the fact that there are many high quality images to slow it all down.
The only other sites that do it to me are DeviantArt and Ebay.
No, it is not just you Cindy! I though it was me being so far away lol. Just the past few days especially during my late evening/early morning it has sometimes been impossible to navigate and then whoof all of a sudden it streaks along, only to clog up again.
Just happening now, as I write. Sloooooow load ... then 'normal' ... sloooooow load ... then 'normal'.
My litmus test of sorts, to eliminate the possibility of internet traffic interfering with my connection on my end when this is occurring ... is to simply try another page.
Google is a good one.

Here in Vienna too...
Has anyone this problem uploading images larger than - let's say - 2MB?
Yesterday I couldn't upload my last posting (3,4MB) and this morning I tried a compressed version (630kb), and that worked.
But I don't wanna post rubbish photos all the time that have denoised or compressed before, as Caedes says "High Quality Wallpapers"!

I'm having the same problem with the speed of uploads and the other complaints as well, but my worst nightmare has been brought up by Chris. I'm not going to hijack your thread, however, so I will start another one in the new direction, although they may be related. :)PJ

I also run into slowness issues here lately and sometimes i have to click twice for a link to open otherwise it takes several seconds to react (it's been doing this since i've been knowing this site),ie: clicking on "Discussion board",clicking on a topic subject or "New images" etc... but unfortunately there are many people here, some are browsing while some others are uploading, downloading etc... and the server has too much load as said earlier in this topic,it must be the reason but this site isn't the only one, some others have the same issue.
all of you people, complaining of slowness, with your hoity toityBROADband connections should be ashamed of yourself ..
Go to your room!!
there are people in lesser developed countries, like, um, where I live that have no "5MB download speed" ... you will have to travel to a distant Monastery, where libraries are still kept in book form .. and look up the word "dial-up" .. "56 KAY BEE" ... and .. "Harry Potter and the Lying Modem of Telephonica"
the site only has issues when "WE" get around to complaining .. then you know it's slow

I fixed my problems...
Last weekend I bought a new router and the problems are gone.
Seems those issues were due to recent downloads from P2P thingies.
The problem seemed to happen because the router was still logging and blocking access from outside although the P2P program was not running...
Hope that helps one or the other ;o)
Greetings my friends
Chris
Do some of you still run into slowness issues on the site? unfortunately i run into this kind of issue everyday, half the time, the site doesn't respond,it only responds after several seconds which becomes a pain after a while,it's a pity cause this site is friendly and having such an issue is annoying.I've got a simple adsl modem,no router but i wonder where the problem could come from? perhaps my ISP,i don't know at all, bummer.
Happens to me all the time. I try to get on when I don't think a lot of others are, but that doesn't seem to help either. I don't know what the answer is.... :)PJ

Thanks for your reply,Phasmid. There's a similar issue on another site i often visit (although it happens less often than here) but just for "a few" people, some others have less troubles (at least they haven't reported it) and apparently,i've been told that it'd be a server issue which affects just "some" people but unfortunately i don't know more,it's true that it's not pleasant browsing the site but what can we do? i don't have an answer either.
I just did a Speakeasy speed test of my connection and got almost a 5MB speed for download. The problem is not there, I think it might be the Caedes server. I have no trouble getting to other sites through my connection very quickly. This morning has been terribly slow. It takes over an hour for me to comment on less than a dozen images. My mother's dialup service is excruciating long in maneuvering on this site. So, now I have tried dial up and yes, Keifer, I now am cleared for complaint. lol

On occassion recently when things have been so slow its like walking through syrup I open up two browsers and work on one while the other one is loading a picture or delivering my comments. And I still have time to bake a cake, write a letter or watch a tv program between. Thats with broadband, at least I think its called broadband - its a dish thing on the roof, does not use phone lines. With my old dial up which used to run at 28kbp (on a good day) I would not be here at all. Other sites, even those with heavy traffic remain fast.
As I write this it is fine - good speed but at other times gets so frustrating I just have to log out. As a result my comments are shorter and my votes are fewer. And I have lots of cakes.
And you have a great wit, Eve! That's what I do sometimes too. Not the baking part, lol, but have two separate browsers open and use one while waiting for the other. I wonder who else here does the same. That's pretty funny (and sad too).

I used to have two browser windows open but now I've discovered tabs in Firefox. I always have different tabs open to different sites - I did this even when I was still on dial-up, because it kept me busy reading and clicking when waiting for something else. Now it's not such an issue in broadband as things are much faster - but I still do it to some extent.
