Do you guys think this is really that bad? I put a lot of effort into this post to make it look nice enough to put up here. I don't understand why it's getting such a low c-index.

I don’t think the vertical letterbox framing format is ever really that popular which won’t help. The very fine detailing is nice but unless you view it at full size it seems to appear as compression damage on smaller sizes – again that will most likely damage its chances in the VB. hope that helps towards explaining it's score.

Thanks, I guess I'll just delete it if you all think it's really that sucky. I guess I also won't be attempting to do any more photos here since I seem to be so horrible at them.

Emily no-one said it was sucky..you have to be able to learn from advice from people as well as appriciate your own work.

You have to have a thick skin when you make images that you work hard on or enjoy because not everyone will like what you like..that does not mean it's a bad image.
You juat have to take critisism and learn from it..constructive critisism that is.

I like your image, from an art point of view. I'm one of the minority that like this sort of thing.

But from a wallpaper site point of view, it's a love or hate it kind of image and not one the majority of people would use on a desktop.

Well, I think .. (*drum roll*) .. that it is an excellent artistic endeavor .. will it bring about world peace, or cure world hunger? .. maybe, if marketed right

as has been said above .. not every image will please every viewer .. if it pleases YOU, post it .. experiment with your software and your abilities .. learn, enjoy, grow .. onward and upward

most of the people that have large galleries will tell you that, maybe, they aren't so fond of their earlier offerings (what were they thinking?) but they sometimes feel they still deserve a place as an indication of growth ... a footprint in the sand that is being endangered by encroaching waves of the rising tide

(*wipes tear*)

oh, and I vote for cactus .. the image, I mean

Thanks all. I think I'll try doing something else with the original.

I think I would prefer the manipulated image at full screen as I personally don't like the framing. But it's still going to appeal to a limited "market".
