I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to change the "lines of type" in my PMs and the comments? they are all horrible long across the page...why is that? and what do I do to get rid of that? Thanx

and .. Verena hasn't asked enough of these questions to know, ahead of time, that posting an example of what, in tarnation, she is talking about helps people respond to her plight

I tried to refresh the page, the only thing on my pc shows "reload current page" so I did
that and it did NOT help, so now what?? Yes, there was someone who sent me one of those
long long lines in my PMs and now ALL of them show up long...help me someone?

Ok listen......there are now a ton of my PMs and even the comments on here
that have the LONG lines...so I can't very well delete every one of them.
There has got to be a real answer to this. THis happened to someone else
before on here, and I remember he got help, but I do not remember what it
was....so please please, someone come up with a "fix" ok??? I tried so many
different things, and they DO NOT work..HELPPPPP!!!

I think it was that fool JOJA..he put a long line of ?????? in my
PM list....sheeeeeeeeeeeesh. I'll delete him and see if that helps.

a forum thread can be edited, either by the author of the post .. or a =MOD, if necessary

a PM can not .. but YOU can delete it

Verena, make a new text file on your desktop. Go to your PM's and click Ctrl+A that will select them all. Then click Crtl+C that will copy them all.
Open the new text file and Click Crtl+P that will copy all messages to the text file. Once you have confirmed the transfer happened smoothly, go back
your Caedes pm's and delete them all;-)

I'm tellin' ya'll - this is the FIRST thread (any kind of communication here on Caedes.net) that I've EVER seen
that is all strung out past the normal screen size. I'm a little freaky with this and can't wait
to see if it's like this at home.....

Verena.. we've told you before how to fix it by copy and pasting your messages into a text file then deleting the PM's
that also helps to keep the number of PM's down so you don't end up with 1000's ;)

I don't have a 1000 ... I deleted 'em all the way down to 985.

I'm rapidly approaching 1000… thanks for reminding me to get off my butt and clean em out!

AT the moment I have 1197 PMs..do you really think I am going to
go thru each of those??! I am NOT able to get rid of the long line.
I did it before and none of anyones ideas has worked so far. So
anymore ideas on this? It all used to be so simple, and the people
knew the answers, and now they are all gone..:(

Verena, it wouldn't be that hard to find the pm that's causing the problem. It'll be the only one
with no word breaks, so skimming briefly through should identify it for you. If it's a recent problem,
it'll be in one of your recent pm's. Deleting that pm is the ONLY answer. No one else has access
to your pm's and can't modify em for you.

While it's a small mountain of work getting rid of them, regular maintenance would prevent this
problem of a pile of pms. Right now we're kind of standing around looking @ somebody who says
"I don't understand why there's a pile of dust in my kitchen" and then tells us they can't use the
broom and we're silly to think they should. Sweeping the kitchen floor once a week means it never
gets to that state, and if by some chance it should… well then sweeping the kitchen will take care
of it. Isn't the time and effort of that easier than constantly looking for another way out? You coulda
finished in the time it's taken for all these posts! Ready? Get set… mark… GO!

I think that comment was a bit unfair "It all used to be so simple, and the people
knew the answers, and now they are all gone..:(" when there have been a few people helping you to get
the answer as well as your other questions..
and as Cat said.. that is the only way your going to get rid of it.. that is to delete the
PM.. i'm sure it wont take you long to do a quick scroll down from the top to find the first PM that
has a looooooong line in it.. it doesnt mean you have to sit and delete every single PM just the first one
that has the line..

As to getting rid of all your PMs .... well if you have 1100 of 'em
I'm going to take a wild guess here & assume you're like me & a huge
portion of them are gossip & chats between friends. So why not get
rid of them ? Nobody's saying take them all down at once, but why
not spend 10-15 minutes a week going through them & deleting here
& there ?
On dA it's practically the same thing. Over there, instead of an
actual note count number, they give you the amount of pages. But
it's still up to you to do your own house cleaning. Nobody can make
it better but you.

or ... you could create a new account ..

leave those PMs, and liquefys behind you ...

start anew ..

pledge to yourself that "BlooVerena" isn't going to collect PMs

isn't going to ask the SAME 'gosh durn' question ten times

Just for statistical purposes… I edited my pm's today

Copy from caedes to Word document: 5 minutes
Delete extra lines: 1 hour 45 minutes
Delete pm's from caedes: 1 hour
882 pms to 15 pms of importance: approx 3 hours

Clearly… this would be a much quicker process if I didn't care
about the neatness of my Word doc. *Shrugs* some things are
worth the effort in my book.
