Library Users Cannot Access

Quite a few users access the net from the various municipal or campus libraries, either because they don't have broadband at home or because they are doing a lot of other things at the library. Often, as is the case for the Orange County (OC) California library system, the people they can afford to hire for IT are not exactly up to speed or particularly motivated, and for library admin this applies double.

For example, recently the OC disabled any ability to view the source of websites. Even the JavaScript commands that I built into the huge corporate site that I maintain for a living don't work any more. Why? Because their philosophy is to make life as easy for them as possible, and to disable anything they can get away with. I.e., socialism in action. Russian nationals will be familiar with this kind of bureaucracy.

So, the right click is also disabled, which means that I and the other library users cannot download any of the very nice pictures, except from the default window at low res. I would love to use some of these as wallpaper on my computer at home, but I can't, due to the library restrictions.

I would suggest a simple menu that could be accessed by people in my stupid predicament, although my natural inclintation would be more in the directions of ropes and trees regarding the libary sysop.

Calming via deep breathing...

Ah.... thanks
