I restarted off posting pictures with my Polaroid i83 camera. Most of the pictures I've uploaded was taken with such camera. For an early christmas present My parents came to together to get me a d80 Digital SLR with a 18-200mm VR lens. Just wondering how I am doing with the pictures and if a clear difference can be seen. Thank you

Wow! A D80 + 18-200 VR lens is a great camera. Congrats :-)
Hope you'll shot other things than your cat ;-)
Just kidding!
You'll see in spring: this lens is like a macro zoom. you can take photos very near the subject.
Merry Christmas!
Yes I thought it would be able to focus a little better at longer distances, but that just might be my mistakes. I have noticed as long as your a good foot and a few inches away you can get some nice close-ups. Cropping always helps too better it. Merry christmas aswell.
Done and done ... and perhaps, as is usual where I am concerned ... overdone??
Yeah ... I slay me and only me. :oP
Left you some words and suggestions Chris. And in all seriousness ... this time ... take a look at that compositional guide/tutorial found through the link provided.
Now then ... go forth and multiply your galleries pages. :o)
If I may, a word of advice. don't always use the auto-focus. I shoot with a D200, and the same lens you have. I find that on certain shots, like macros, or shots with multiple depths of field, it's sometimes better to trust your eye.
You could, of course, use a much tighter sperture (higher f-stop #), but light and other conditions won't always allow for that. Either use the MA/M switch, or simply depress the shutter release halfway, and while holding it there, adjust the focus manually. Hope that helps.
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
