Ok, just noticed the difference in the URL that you used and what I had been trying to use taken directly after having visited the respective gallery under "Galleries" ... and it is this:
Yours ... ends with ... 'photography-%3Epets'.
The one that I had been trying to use ... ended with ... 'photography->pets'
Why the difference and potential confusion?

Just tried with the architecture gallery and ran into the same problem.
The linking formula gets reduced to this if I try the URL taken from the page found under Galleries:

Aha ... think I understand the 'why' ... it's the ... ">" appearing??

It's definitely the ">" that is seen as the closing tag for the link. The only working option is to go to the actual first page of that specific subsection and copy the link from there. Basically the %3E is substituted for the ">" within the link.

Not sure of what changes would have to be made, re: coding ... just looking to make things simpler and more straightforward, that's all.
The reason to make mention of this?
Sometimes linking to a specific gallery to provide some examples and/or additional inspiration for a member that might be ... hmm, 'struggling' is not the most apt descriptor ... but, will suffice ... in an area of photography can be just the right step in pointing the way.
Particularly where a new member is concerned that has not yet become familiar with the navigation of the site.
Once again, appreciate the help and tip.

I realize this comes quite a bit later... but in FF3 rc2(rc3) I get http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Gallery&gallery=photography-%3Epets with a right-click then copy location choice from &KEIFER's link above. :o)
