I have a Canon Rebel Xt with a 75 - 300mm lens. I was just trying it out and i noticed that it doesnt go very far in terms of zoom. Is there a technique to get maximum zoom?

Oh and P.S is the Canon Rebel XT (not XTi) a good camera?

And what are the specs that are better in the XTi than in the Xt

Did you get a manual with it? Try rotating the barrel which is marked with the focal length.

The Rebel XT is 8 MP, the XTi is 10 MP
Here is a Link for an interesting forum.

The 75-300mm is only about a 4x zoom, so those slr-like with a 10x or 12x zoom have a much longer focal length. I just got a rebel with the same lens and my old kodak z7590 has a 10x, so it takes some getting used to. Realize the image sensor is much larger in this type of device than other cameras, so even though you can't zoom as far, cropping the image won't rob you of as much detail as before.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross
