I just changed the settings on my monitor, and this shot, found here is the firstone I'm posting, since doing so. Please let me know if it looks normal, or wonky.

As I look back on my previous posts, with my monitor on this new setting, my pics... don't look right. Was this new setting a correct move? Please view the image at it's full size. Thanks in advance.

It looks fine to me, what is it you're seeing that you weren't before? Can you give a few more examples of older things that looked good before but don't now?

If I were to generalize, everything now seems darker, with a bad white balance. Over-saturated yellows, and an overly warm color tone. Examples? Mostly everything :o(

sounds like your colour temperature setting on the monitor is too low - anything between 5 & 6000K is generally considered a neutral(ish) daylight replication. Perhaps the best solution would be to purchase a hardware calibrator. They are pretty reasonable these days and the good ones can even take into account the ambient light of the room the monitor is in.

I think your adjustment was a good one, I'm seeing mostly the same thing. I had thought that most of that was artistic preference as opposed to monitor issue. You might have tilted a little too heavily on your adjustment, but I think it's showing you a more accurate picture now.

The adjustment made? I selected the "picture" setting, as opposed to where I had it, which was on "web". Whoops. :o(

Phil, thanks. I do know the general color temp of daylight. Never thought to change the actual pre-set on the monitor. Had just tried manually adjusting it.

Cat, too heavily in which direction?...and thank you as well.

Too heavily towards the other extreme. I'll send you some links in a little while you can use to visually check what you see - right now i'm being harassed by the kid i kicked off all his websites to concentrate on school work that i have to concentrate too. LOL

washed out as in blown out, or lacking color?

Lacking contrast, especially in the upper left tree leaves. If you boost the contrast the color should be richer.

I'm having troubles DL'ing it right now .. the thumbnail looks good though ... and pity it's in Orlando or you could reshoot easily

seriously, though .. what I can see before it stops is FINE on my monitor .. which is not calibrated with anything other than "Keifer v1.0"

I think YOU'RE wonky!!

8~O

I think it looks good. Personally I thought a lot of your prior post seemed kinda 'brown' for lack of a better word. Nice tones & contrast....just an overall browish feel. Perhaps what you were going for in post I just always kinda thought, yet, wondered why sometimes. This one seems to have more color balance to it.

Do you calibrate?? I do every day and it feels great!! *~P

You should get a monitor calibrator perhaps?? I use a HUEY !! Go ahead...geek it till it MHZ!!

The light/contrast is good on my TFT at work.
I'll see on my old (but good) CRT at home.
