What about a chatbox on caedes? Much easier as always those Personal Messages...

PM's are like email while a chatbox would be like IM. Why not just use an IM client?

What about setting up an "official" AIM chat room?

It just would be easy, if there's an chatbox is generated in the site, but I agree, I have to stand up with my lazy but.

This has been discussed before. I think Caedes was concerned about the constant need to refresh the screen, etc with a chatbox.

I believe that there is already a caedes.net channel on IRC - see this old discussion. I don't know how often there is anybody on there.

i just went there today and no one is there, but i'll keep checking back to see if anyone is there.

i agree, but usually the chatboxes get foul.

If you are longer member of this site, you get a lot of friends here, if u're active. In that case you recieve a lot of PM's, and also the Discussion board is really busy. It would be much more easy if there was just a simple chatbox, where you can talk with your caedes-friends.

I agree completely, but if one did get invented by our favorite caedes, then there would have to be a pretty strong filter on there.

Thought it might help to see some of the previous points that were made.

...and it does, but most people are usually too lazy to go there (including myself). It surprised me that caedes already has one made, but some things would have to change for him to post that.

I also agree that it takes away from the glory of the site to have the chatting get in the way and clutter everything. My personal opinion is that the chatbox will be strictly a novelty design for art talk to begin with, but it will degenerate from there and no one could tell where it would end up. It seems better than using an IM client, mostly because everyone has different clients, but clients have fun features like live video feed (and prismmagic thought I was joking...) :-)

The cadre members only is an excellent idea because not only do those contributing to the site (give it more bandwith) get to participate, but the cadre members are usually more serious about the whole art deal than the average non-member. Also, it would encourage more people to become cadre members, which means caedes has more money to work with.

I just don't want to see the chatbox "fall into enemy hands", because it would certainly bring down the feel of class and nobility found around here.

One question for caedes. To temporarily end this discussion, could you place a section in the profile pages for "IM Client:"? That would help a lot, for those that desperately need to chat, and settle those restless peace dosruptors who seem to be on the prowl for finding loop holes in this site. ;-)
