I've been trying to snap some night photos, but everytime I tried, the pictures came out with weird lighting (I think the white balance is waaay off). For example, light that's supposed to be white turns out yellow instead. =/ And there's no handshake whatsoever; it's just that the lighting's real weird. Any ideas? =/ I'm using a Fujifilm S5000.
On my camera there is a setting for the type of lighting you have. If you have it set on sunlight when you are actually under, say, incandescant lighting, it will turn out very yellow, but if you change it to incandescant it looks much more realistic. Maybe yours has a similar setting.
Some cameras allow you to use a custom white balance for those difficult shots. Essentially you take a photo of a white object that’s illuminated by the dominant lamp in your scene, then tell the camera to use the resulting image for the white balance. I’m not familiar with your camera so you will have to check your manual.
I have a Fuji S5000, you need to switch it the manual mode and open the settings menu, and look for the "WB" menu. The choices with a 1, 2, or 3 besides it should eliminate the yellow tint, try each one to see which is best for that photo situation. The cloudy (overcast) WB option sometimes is sufficient to eliminate the yellow tint.
