On March 31, 2007, more than 2 million Sydney businesses and households turned off their lights for one hour, Earth Hour, creating a powerful global message that it's possible to take action on climate change.
Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.
Earth Hour is about more than one night. Its about inspiring you to hopefully make changes that can help reduce the stress on our climate & our planet by showing just how much even the smallest change can help. And just how important one person really can be.
Help achieve Earth Hour's ultimate goal of reducing emissions by 5%. Will you be part of Earth Hour?
"Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap." - Robert Fulghum
Thanks for the links Lauren & Les. Actually, just before sunrise I did just that ... even turned the light off on my PC (shut it down after updates were complete ... an hour exactly). Will do just that again this evening. One doesn't think much on how much energy is used daily & "Earth Hour is a great way to send that message out.
I'll be turning off the light's ... that's for sure!!!
