Just what makes a fractal image a fractal image? I see that they look somewhat different from others but I'm just starting to make my own and I would like to know what a fractal image is so if I make some I know which gallery to put them in.
Fractals are created using a mathematical formula with a specifically designed fractal generating program. If your image has not been created in this way, it should go in a different category.
Put it in the gallery you think is most appropriate. Many of the images in the fractal gallery have in fact been extensively post-processed.
BTW: as far as I am aware you can write your own formulas in Ultrafractal. Also, retro, I take issue with your statement that the computer does all the work! That is precisely what people say when they are trying to talk down computer generated art. The program may produce the image for you, but you still need to tell it what to do to create the finished product.
