I've never used a toy camera before; but I don't really think it matters too much whichever way you go. Oh, but I 'played' around with a similar type of camera at my grandmas house (it's an american version of the holga; it might be a diana, but I really don't know) - it had limited controls, like sunny, cloudy, or bulb. And that was about it.

Where are you planning on developing the medium format film, btw?

we have places in town that can develop as i dont have the means to, and next year i wll have access to a lab.

i know that its kind of limited as to what you can do, but i think its kinda part of the fun.

Good good. Actually, if you want to develop them yourself, just for the fun of it you could buy a canister/container and the chemicals all for like ... well, no more than $100 i think; possibly $50 (it's been a while). Other than that, it takes a sink and a very dark closet/room/bathroom (at night). (it's way more fun doing it at home than somewhere else, you get to sit on clothes, or the toilet seat, if you wish). That is, if you wanted to get the two thirds experience...or is it half. or full. Anyways...

...of course you wouldn't be able to print, though.

Just make sure whatever camera you get has a bulb mode/setting; for night photos of course.
