A week or so ago everybody stopped commenting to me! I'am in trouble?? I comment on a consistent basis.(VB,Comment request, friends)and before a week or so ago I was getting consistent comments as well. It's like it just stopped! I love this site, I love what it stands for. I love the opportunity to be able to share photos and get critiqued on my photos, good information and just plain fun! I don't mean to sound :(harsh or self centered:0 or sensitive but I just want to know if it's something I did??? Thank you for your honest feed back.

Uhm ... taking a look at the last few image's pages in your gallery ... I am a bit perplexed by your words above.

Your images still have garnered some commentaries, so ... is there something I am missing? Or, misinterpreting in your words?

That aside, as a suggestion ... you could try varying the times that you upload. It may be ... may be, that your images are getting a little lost in the shuffle of the new image's gallery. Not sure.

Hello Purmusic
The dates showback to the 8th of April for my last comment from someone else, on any of my photos'. It just struck me as odd that the activity level declined so drastic all at once! e.g. You and eggray are first of any comment activity since the 8th and you guys just posted.

p.s. by the way my name is Erica(*.*)

Hey Erica,

Ok, got you.

Taking a look at the date for your last upload/posting ... leads me to believe that in some ways, yes ... your falling off of the radar screens is due to being shuffled in and amongst the new image gallery works.

And as an example, to illustrate that that is not entirely the case or potentially ... your own favourites? The most recent ones that you added were not commented on by you. Nothing wrong with that, just trying to point out that there is other activity that could still be happening in your galleries, however ... it is not noted anywheres visibly to you.

Don't stress over this. Just a small bump of inactivity, simply stated.

Furthermore, look at my own profile page and imagery in my galleries. Bit of a decline in activity on both fronts. People could simply be ... busy. Happens, and somewhat seasonally too what with activities that are now available to them.

No worries, 'k?

You've done nothing wrong. :o)

Thank you Les, I appreciate you looking into this matter. I was unaware that the site could be seasonal, but with spring arriving and people getting outside, I guess it would slow down a bit. Thanks again.

.....Done.......

I left a few comments but dont think that i didnt like the others it just would have taken to long to comment on all your great shots. They were all really good. Great job.

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

What irritates me is the lack of consideration on a comment. There are those who never say thanks occasionally for a comment left on their work, let alone comment on your work. I understand that it is a time consuming process especially if your a "popular" contributor, but it does'nt take long to type a simple thanks once in a while. At least it shows respect for the fact someone took time out of "their" own schedule to comment on their work.
And yes, I too get the feeling that I have done something wrong or offensive. Maybe my work is not good enough or too predictable?

Although it is nice to receive acknowledgement for leaving a comment on someones work, you shouldn't expect that to happen... in fact I think that's part of the problem, as it has led to some degree to a culture of "I'll comment on your work if you comment on mine" - ie you leave a few comments on someones images, and if they thank you and then leave some comments on their stuff you will thank them and leave some more on theirs etc. This in turn leads to groups of people commenting on each others works just because they "know" each other, rather than because they necessarily have anything to say or any advice to offer. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this in principle, it does lead to two issues, firstly that new people don't receive many comments on their images, which might lead them to lead the site in frustration, and secondly it can lead to the "too nice" comments referred to in other threads. In some cases I think people have so many images they "need" to comment on to fulfill their quota, that they don't really even look at the image let alone take any time to find something helpful to say about it.

Personally I only tend to comment on an image if I have some advice to offer that I think might be helpful... or very occasionally if I am really impressed by an image and 300 people haven't already got there before me. I also don't tend to "thank" people either, again unless they have asked me a question or if I have some feedback on their feedback (ie the image looks that way because of this, etc.). It's just come to feel a bit shallow to me after a few years to do it for any other reason. I certainly don't want to be doing it just to try and get something in return. I'm not saying that others should stop though just because I don't like doing it myself.

Thanks Sam. I suppose it may have come off sounding as tho I was whining. It was not meant to. I agree there is too much nice stuff, I must admit I am sowewhat guilty of that at times. Thanks for you response.

No problem... I used to wonder why some longer term members didn't respond to my comments once... until I became that way myself :-P
