Photography -> General

I noted that there were 7 pages of images in the "New images -> Photography -> General" gallery today. I can understand that some of these (about 15 images) would be difficult to categorize but most of them were of flowers, architecture, landscapes (one even had the word "landscape in the title :-P) which are easy to place in the correct gallery. The "General" gallery should only be used if you genuinely cannot see another gallery where your photograph belongs. Remember the main reason for this categorization is to help members find what they are looking for, ie to make it easier for people to find YOUR photo...

Another note: If you are uploading a landscape photo, be sure to place it in "Photography -> landscape" and not "Computer -> Landscape" as frequently occurs.

Ok, now you have me curious ... and a possible suggestion as well is forthcoming ...

The members involved? More of an international flavour or no?

If yes, perhaps some translated versions of this text of the following line on the uploads page might alleviate the 'problem' to an extent. Suggested words off the top of me head:

"Please take a moment to review the different categories and galleries for the placement of your images. Correctly placing your photos or works helps bring viewers searching for a particular kind/style or genre ... to your work. Thank you."

Something like that anyways. I still like the idea of a 'news banner' on profile pages to address/announce ... stuff. Rather than a thread posting which may or ... *notices number of posts to thread thus far* ... may not, get read.

Much like the other 'stuff' on the uploads page. :oP

Just kidding a bit on that last part.
