I've seen many fantastic fractal images here over the past few months. Can some of the frac pros on Caedes recommend some decent freeware related software to get me started in the direction of creating similar images?

I'm not a fractalist, but if you like, click here for a list of discussions about freeware, some of which is for fractals and CG.

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

Most fractalists here use Apophysis, Tierzon, MBF (mind boggling fractals) & Chaoscope to name a few. If you see work that you like ask the artist they will be happy to tell you what program and help with using the program :)

You can get some gorgeous images from UF but I seriously recommend you doing some of the tutorials you can find online.

The UF site can start you off on tutorials & you can also find them over on deviantART too.

The newest release of Ultra Fractal, version 5 can be found here.

AS for tutorials etc., you'll need to look around, just be aware that UF is not free & while it can be complicated it makes some gorgeous images.

As for myself, even though I have UF I use Apophysis & Photofiltre.
