well what i am looking for is a small res image, maybe like 128X128 pix, maybe a little bigger or smaller, then i am going to expand the canvas to a super high res (6400X4800) then i am going to use the clone tool (BTW I am using photoshop), But... hmmmm...,
i wonder if i would get more detail by taking a larger texture and scaling it down to a small size and then do my thing? I might even go take the camera out and shoot some textures...
oh and also, if i were going to post a cg image with a planet and a nebula, where should i post it. I looked in space, and they looked like they were real images....
No you can use small pix like you have but make sure they are seamless, other wise you will see lines when they are joined together.I generally open the texture up in photoshop and make a pattern then use the fill command rather than using the clone tool.
i use the clone tool with a hardness of 0. i just move it around over everything, there are no seams because i use a brush that is smaller than the original pic... but ill look for seamless stuff
i specifically need bumpy rock(the real rock picture, no rendered rocks) and/or shiny with dark spots
