Free classes from camera shops ??

Hey people,
As I mentioned before, my local RITZ CAMERA shop had offered me free classes, after I bought a Canon A650 IS. I'm wondering if anyone else here has attended these free classes, either at a Ritz Camera location or other camera shop? And, if so, what did you think? Did you attend all of the meetings, and learn a lot?

Thanks,
Michael

Oh! You've just reminded me, I have free classes from them also! ha :) I got them after my camera purchase just a few weeks ago...yes, I'd be interested to know if anyone else has taken them.

Hi Rebecca. :) I start my classes in September. If you haven't already called your local Ritz Camera shop & signed up, call em now, because they might not be able to place you in the next session, but they'll place you as soon as they can. ...Anyway, let's keep in touch and we can compare notes on how these classes are going! By the way, what kind of camera did you buy from them? ...Peace, --Michael

I did a couple last year. They're basic and general but certainly useful -- will re-enforce what you know and fill in gaps. The presenter pretty much works through a slideshow of examples on the particular topic, but does answer questions, so it's worth jotting down points you'd like covered when you go and raising them.

I stopped attending simply because sessions weren't held as scheduled and I got tired of registering and then showing up for nothing. They called to cancel a couple, but not others. Tried switching Ritz stores, hoping another would be more reliable, but no. You might want to call the day of any class you register for just to double check that it will be held.

Hi Pixleslie, and thanks for the info! Very good point, regarding the possible unreliability of these sessions. At this point, I just hope to learn more on a regular basis, but if they're gonna start canceling classes, that would be a drag!
...Well, I'll post back here & let people know how it goes.
...By the way, Leslie, if u own a Powershot (or are familiar with them?), then maybe u won't mind if I contact u with questions and/or to compare notes about the stuff I learn along the way...??

Peace from Cleveland,

Michael

Don't have a Powershot, no.

I've got two Fuji Finepix - an E550 and an A900 -- and am (slowly) getting up to speed with a Nikon D300. At this point, I've got more questions than answers but am always happy to share my ignorance.

I hope you hit a Ritz store that comes through on the scheduling!
