He's a great American poet! But I'm parcel to that era. That's when songs had to do more with truth and the meanings of responsibility for actions rather then hatred of each other and jalousie and disseat. Rather then songs about why it’s your parent’s fault that you didn’t get what you wanted in life. Songs back then weren’t about how good you look or the best car or who’s better in bed.

Art is the perception of the creator. Meaning is the perception of the viewer. acceptance is the perception of society.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

Cool Tom ..I didn't know that Bob Dylan was his stage name ... and very well said and I agree to of what you said Clayton. As back in the day indeed was the time when meaningful songs were actually liked and popular today still has bands that "think differently" and wrtie meanful songs ..just nowadays they aren't popular. (example: Dream Theater).

it's much too easy to label a generation's music ugly and immoral...there are a lot of wholesome good bands and lyrics out there and some are 'popular' (Maroon 5, Collective Soul, most country and a lot of Kid Rock's newer stuff) you just have to listen for it. </end rant>

-i like Dylan as well :)

No offense but I wouldn't call maroon 5 good lyrics.

Well i like them...but then again i like all music...the point was it doesn't follow prism's stereotypes of modern music. ( in the wholesome bands and lyrics, they're more band then lyrics) :)

Oh ..well I agree with his strereotype against modern music. Of course this is my opinion. And I don't agree COMPLETELY about that about modern music, as I pointed out. But the majority of popular music ..ya know: what the kids are into these days (even though I'm a kid and i dont like it) just isnt what they were into 40 years ago ..and in a bad way. ..no thought put into the pop music these days. Usually there aren't even instruments in it.
