Curiousity and the cat

I decided to through this here, because it seems to me that more 'serious' photograpghers tend to pop in and out. I'm really just curious. I posted this one and got about the score I expected. Several people commented on the over-satureated background. My friend Alan was kind enough to do a rework which you can see here. I was surprised that his rework only picked up 4 points as I thought his backround was far superior. If you would be so kind as to take a look at each and maybe let me know which you prefer and why.

Rich

PS - Please note, I am NOT crabbing about the c-index either picture recieved, i am just looking for some feedback as to the variations of two pictures.

Thanx,

Rich

Good day Rich
I have viewed both posts and must say that I prefer the rework. It apprears sharper and the colours more natural (at least on my monitor). The darkened b/g allows your subject to pop giving it a rather poised tension feel. Although not entirely eliminated the motion blur is reduced in this version somewhat and has added nicely to the sharpness as well. I really like the energy this image gives off with the focused stare of the big cat. I am no expert by any means and hope my comment is helpful. Keep them coming!
regards

Rich, I enjoyed both pictures. I subscribe in full to Rick's points. One thing that makes the modified photo more attractive, in my opinion, is the different colour of the background. In the original, its colour was competing with the colour of the animal.
