Digital Camera Blur!!! HELP!

Hey guys and gals! I haven't been around much for quite a while, more like years. Anyway, part of that is because my digital camera is producing blurry pictures. I checked and cleaned the lens but the pictures still come out blurry, but only on the left side of the picture. Other than that, the focused part of the picture is very crisp and clear for an older, low-end camera.

If this helps, it's an HP Photosmart R817. 5.1 Megapixels

Thanks!

Are you the universe looking at yourself through the mirror of the human eye?

Mira - Gosh you have a $300 P&S camera and it takes blurry pictures, RATS! what might cause that? Hmmm...there are a number of causes, but just for starts I would have you look at the lens in a bright light. Is the coating on the lens, worn on one side or scratched? Is the lens dirty on one side? Always use a lens cloth or brush, otherwise the coating on the lens may get worn away. This will result in blurry pictures. If it is not dirty or the coating is not rubbed off, then I would guess the camera has been dropped and the lens is out of alignment withe the image sensor. Either way, this is nothing you will be able to manipulate back to health. I would have a local camera store check it. More than likely, you will have to select your next camera.

While trying to create good pictures, I feel as if I am standing on the edge of Insanity. There is a door. I found myself knocking on the door. The door opened.. . . I was knocking from the inside. Oh Rats!

I have no idea, but we're both the same age.

Use this to your advantage ... try using a grunge filter to add to the effect. (partially joking)

it could also be some dust inside of your camera on the lens and you can't get that out by yourself, so go to a local store and they can check this out for you.

Good Luck with it!!!

Can you post an example, so we can have a look-see?

I've got a P&S that won't focus properly at long zoom, but I know that's mechanical...

I took a P&S camera to a camera store a few years back, and I asked them to repair a problem that would require them to disassemble the camera. The price they quoted to me was a lot more than the cost of the camera, so I just bought a new camera.
