Apparently, with a score of 13, Slide Around (Pewter) didn't quite "do it" for some people. Was wondering if anyone cared to offer insight on where I "missed".

It's "copper" cousin didn't fare too much better with a 38. Is it that it wasn't liked? Wasn't understood? Both?

Thanks

Just a guess here, Rob? As a contest entry it is very nicely done and flows well with the theme - very well in fact. But in the VB it is difficult to tell what it really is - has a semi-abstract feel to it. There is nothing in the picture to give perpective as to size...I agree with one of the comments posted that i would never have guessed what it was. Is it a hubcap? A drain? I think you hit on the head - it just wasn't understood. The clarity is good, the composition interesting, but if you don't know what it is it is going to score low. Just MHO of couurse.

And thanks for offering YHO, Rich.

Never occurred to me that might be the case, but I can see why.

"but if you don't know what it is it is going to score low."

I suppose I'd hoped that would actually draw the viewer in, and inspire curiosity, not repulsion or boredom. Whoops.

Hiya Rob..there ya go thinkin' again :o) just kidding ya know! I think both images are cool (cooper my favorite so far) but I saw them before the voting booth so I did have the distinct advantage of knowing what you were shootin etc.
Beauty here draws high numbers......name of the game. Sorry about the numbers :(....just don't look at them :o)

grumble grumble *kicks a pebble* :p

yeah, I know all about the numbers and what's popular here, and not. just thought I'd try to get some insight into how it missed, not whether it did.. that one's been determined already ;-)

Rob - Long time member, first time viewer of your image. I have to agree with some of Rich"s comments. My FIRST thought was "what is it?" I dont know if the focus or clarity is good, because I dont know what it is. The voting booth is a tough place, determining what to send thru it, is even tougher. Sorry to be so blunt, I hope I provided you with what you were looking for.

While trying to create good pictures, I feel as if I am standing on the edge of Insanity. There is a door. I found myself knocking on the door. The door opened.. . . I was knocking from the inside. Oh Rats!

Bluntness is a coin I deal in, so no, no offense taken. Focus was altered a bit togive it a softer "sheen" appearrance. Perhaps that worked against me.

I guess, so did the "what is it?" factor. I had hoped, as I stated, that it would draw the viewer in. Guess not...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
