I recently made a funny, constructive, & uncomplimentary comment on Fogz which shortly disappeared. Such a shame it feels like the D's disappeared from emocracy. )o:
Someone please let me out !!
I wonder how long this comment will stay here. (o:
If you're talking about fogz's "light at the end of the tunnel" pic...no, your wonderfully witty comments are still there. I didn't take the time to go through her entire gallery so I don't know if there were other comments that might have been deleted, though if they'd been thrown in the Hall of Shame there should have been a banner sort of thing stating that... especially if it had been recently.
I admit to being curious to what a constructive, funny & uncomplimentary comment was.
I realise Caedes has a strict code of conduct, it's a shame they seem to lack a SOH sometimes. :o(
Well I've actually got 2 HALL OF SHAME COMMENTS that I know of so what's the limit, & is a caution issued by pm 1st, & how long does the ban last ? .. Please tell.
I think you hit the nail on the head there Hannah. :o)
I was simply having a laugh with a tongue in cheek comment made in direct response to the three opening remarks in the Caedes Curves competition results column. However this is still a great photographic website, & I just love BIG BROTHER too. ;o)
Perhaps the ‘misinterpretation’ of the humour came about because of ( a ) your insistence on a subsequent post that you were infact not joking and meant it and ( b ) you repeated the criticism of the winning image on an unrelated competition entry from another member.
Comments are only shamed when they are deemed to be offensive or not in compliance with the sites Code of Conduct or when sufficient numbers of members take offense at them and use the complain feature. And yes, it isn’t a democracy; it’s a privately owned and run site, which is governed by a fairly common sense set of rules. These are in place to provide a safe and congenial place for artists to interact. All members are expected to play by the rules if they want to play at all – it’s that simple.
Yecks! Was just having a bit sense of humor but also curious about the Hall of Shame. I have never complained about another member and don't plan to, why should I? Everyone has been wonderful so why in the world should I ever say a bad thing against them
Please bury this thread, I am tired of being thrown about like a Volley Ball, I asked a sincere question that has been bothering me for the longest time. Now I am so sorry I ever did.
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
Diane, as Rob has stated so well, this is a discussion thread. The person who initiates the thread has no ownership in it. Please don't personalize this thread and any questions or responses that are put here. You don't need to do that any more :)....honest!
You posed a question that quite possibly many have secretly wanted to ask but were afraid to do so.
In that respect, you have done a favor for many.
This thread will be buried by a =consul only if it gets out of hand and abusive. As it stands now, it is informative in nature.
Thanks for initiating this discussion.
Hope this helps you some :=)

It seems I could hold the record for Hall of shame comments Joey, but that wasn't my goal.
My occasional dark humorous comments are now being SHAMED simply because many Caedes staff have a very limited sense of humour, & clearly dislike me now. If these comments were really disgusting to the viewing public they wouldn't be left for them to read would they. :o)
Click here to see another comment of mine shamed by a member of Caedes over zealous staff [ 7th comment from bottom ] Look to see 100k_xle equally funny comment in the same column 4 spaces above mine, however EJs comment wasn't deleted nor shamed like mine.
Sometimes we can all be a little rude, & likewise we all put up with some hurtful comments on our galleries occasionally but naturally choose to leave it unreported. I'm I keen wildlife conservationist click here to see just one comment on my gallery [ 3rd comment down ] that left me gasping for air ! The Nene Goose was saved from extinction in 1950 by Sir Peter Scott the son of the British Arctic explorer who never came home ! & Mark a friend of mine was only asking what the Goose tastes like KFC style. :o( but I'm sure someone will find this funny.
I think that the actions taken, with respect to your dark and humorous remarks Phil and the profile of some of the pages that you have placed them on ... has lead to the current situation that you are reporting.
You don't strike me as someone who appreciates poor sportmanship ... and in that light, that is exactly how your comments were viewed. In a couple of instances.
And really, was the time invested in composing your post two back worth it?
Not ever going to get that time back, you know? Might be better channeled, perhaps?
'Grow up' was really constructive in that case Phil.
We shamed some of your comments because they were only directed on one member.
This is not the place to fight for one or another reason.
If you are asking for a constructive discussion, please be constructive with all the members here...

I have been thinking about the Hall Of Shame. How many times can you be shamed before you are reprimanded? Is there a place where shamed comments are stored? And who gets to read them all?
There isn't a set number of times, it depends on the nature of the comments. For example if the comment is shamed because it is spam, then the user will generally be banned immediately because they have set up the account purely to post spam; if the comments are from a new user who is simply a troll then they will also be banned. If it is a long term member who has occasionally made inappropriate comments then obviously they would have to do something pretty bad to justify any further action than the shaming itself.
As to the second part of your question, there is a page accessible to mods which lists shamed comments but it is more a reference to help in weeding out the aforementioned spammers/trolls than for reading the comments. Most of them are juvenile or spam that one can read in any of thousands of message boards which aren't moderated as well as this one :-) and not very interesting.
What offense puts you there? or is it just a joke?
