i just uploaded a shot called waimea canyon 2. i was so disappointed in the fact that it got a 54. the scene was so gorgeous. in looking at it again it seems a bit flat and dark. is it ok to delete it, fix it a bit and then upload it again. i've never done anything like this after getting a low score.

the trouble with shooting in Waimea or any other tropical mountainous area is always the light - which results in those annoying blue shadows. you already seam to know what to do to fix that so yes - its fine to remove and reupload it.

the sites rules say this is permissible if the resulting image is likely to receive a better critique and score rather than just deleting it and reuploading it with little or no changes as many also try to do.

for this - I would try altering the crop so the horizon hits the top third horizontal line of the image then play around with the levels a bit - darkening in the sky and brightening the landscape. When I was taking landscapes in Kauai I found using circular polarisers and ND filters on the lenses very useful for combating the light problems.

We all are sometimes disappointed, Jen! I 've just deleted 3
of my images, with a bad score, but thats all in the game!
I can understand why you are disappointed, becuase I think your
image 'waimea canyon 2' is a fantastic upload!
Personal I would give it some more contrast, and mabey you'll show us the next time some more sky?!

thanks john. for this one there is no more sky. i'll have to find the original or some others taken at the same time and create a little "magic". thanks for taking the time to write. jen
