i have currently been corresponding in "non art website issues" about loss of color. if you check it out you'll see that nigel suggested setting my camera at sRGB as well as the monitor and photoshop preferences. in visiting the camera store in my area, Tempe Camera (a highly respected place) one of the salesmen encouraged me to set the 5D as well as the 10D to RGB and then when editing change the profile. he thought that the RGB made for better printing. so my question is........do i take two shots, one at sRGB and the other at RGB? do i change the calibration for the monitor depending on which shot is being edited. thanks. jen
sorry if i don't comment on each of your pictures. to those of you who comment so often, i can't imagine how you get it done! i for one am always extremely grateful for the kind comments and suggestions that you make.

RGB is a generic term - your camera most likely has the option of Adobe RGB 1998 which you should use if you intend to print the photos as its colour space is closer to CMYK and has a more achievable gamut. Use sRGB if you intend to use the images on the web. If you want to do both - use Adobe RGB 1998 and then when you create a version for the web - convert the profile (not assign) to sRGB just for that purpose.
If you are just wanting a colourful and aesthetic appearance you should set your colour management intent to Perceptual and if you want completely accurate tone mapping use Relative Colormetric however using this option can create some banding when the colour gamuts are clipped. use black point compensation for both options.
