hey everyone, im a new register to the site, although i've been leaching desktop backgrounds for ages now. I'm starting to take an interest in this stuff and was wondering what programs i need to even begin doing what some of you are doing on a basic level, i know there is alot to learn and it will take time, but i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction and heck, is any of this even possible with no previous experience?

Critisim would be greatly appreciated.

You can checkout the link on the left side of the screen > Other Stuff > Suggested Software, for a listing of photo editing, fractal and computer generated software.

If you tell us what area you are particularly interested in, we can narrow down your search for a program.

And heck yeah, you can do it with no previous experience! If it's constructive criticism you look for, just say so in the narrative section when uploading an image.

In answer to your question,is possible with no previous experience? Absolutly! Like you, I at first came here for free wallpapers and I used to wonder 'how do they do that?' What kind of stuff are you interested in making?

Hi Jeff ! And welcome aboard ! Ian's right, everybody has to start somewhere so don't feel intimidated at all. All you have to do is decide what you might like to explore, what you're curious about or what you really like & then take it from there.

For instance, I do fractals & picked Apophysis because I got interested in fractals, which was something I'd never even heard of until I got here. So pick your poison & go from there. ;-)

Also don't hesitate to ask questions. Do so in the discussion forums or in PMs to members. We all help each other out, so don't be afraid to ask. If you ever need to know who to ask about something look at the type of work you want to create. Decide who creates stuff like what you want, and ask them. Most folks will be happy to help out any way they can.
