I noticed a strange problem with my mouse pointer since yesterday,it also happened today and each time, the problem occured while being on Caedes,is it a coincidence? i do not know. The problem i encountered is my mouse pointer moved less quickly for some reason,it happened suddenly.
The only fix i found was to reboot the computer and then my mouse pointer worked fine again.
Does someone encounter the same problem? thank you.
Hello Jerome....In the Control Panel there should be an icon called Mouse. Open that, go to the Motion tab. Move the slider under Cursor Speed and Acceleration across to the right. Use Apply to set the changes.....Mick.
I already know about the mouse option in the control panel,it does not seem to change anything but thank you for the suggestion though. The only fix is to restart the computer.
Yes,again,i experienced the problem a few hours ago,i restarted the computer and the problem was fixed again,it happens once a day and again,it happened while being on Caedes however it could be a coincidence,i do not know at all.Thank you again for the input.
Jerome - a mouse that acts up. How clever of your computer to provide you with such stress. You said you have a corded mouse and the problem clears up when you restart the computer. You said you have tried other mouses, with no difference in performance. Hmmm...sounds like a power supply problem. If you have other hardware plugged into the computer by way of the USB port, the 5V power supply may possible be maxed out and cause this type of reaction. This is especially common on Laptops. Especially after you initate the use of an aux hard drive, graphic pad or cordless device. Just for the heck of it unplug a device you may have plugged in and see if that eliminates a problem. Usually installing a AC powered USB port will eliminate the problem. If you are not familiar with it, its a USB port that has its own power supply that you plug into the wall. I use them on my laptop, they work great. I wish you luck.
While trying to create good pictures, I feel as if I am standing on the edge of Insanity. There is a door. I found myself knocking on the door. The door opened.. . . I was knocking from the inside. Oh Rats!
Thank you for the input. No,i do not think it could be a power supply problem,i have a new computer (it is not a laptop) and the power supply is powerful enough, thank you for the idea though.I will see if the problem occurs tomorrow again.
Make sure the 4 little pads underneath the mouse are "squeaky" clean and try using it on a piece of plain white paper. Sometimes they react to a shiny surface or one with a highly contrasting pattern.
Also make sure you do not have a cell phone anywhere near your mouse.
Thank you LynEve.Indeed,it is an optical mouse,it is also a new mouse so the little pads are clean.I use a standard grey mouse pad.I already heard about problems with certain surfaces but i do not think a standard grey mouse pad can cause such problems.
I do not have a cell phone or similar hardware near my mouse either.
I have not encountered the problem again,go figure,i hope i have not spoken too fast though.Once again,i would like to thank the people who tried to help in this topic.
I too, have had this problem, Jerome. And experienced it last night as well. I have determined that it is an incompatibility with a Logitech optical mouse and the Firefox browser, after checking Logitech's FAQ's and technical problems area. My mouse has extra features that do not work with Firefox. At times, I also notice a lag in the movement of the mouse on Caedes, that is not noticed on other sites.
I use a Logitech laser mouse and it seemed to jump and act funny with the drivers that came with it.My solution was to unistall them and let windows find it and install as a generic mouse since then no problems.
Thank you both for the replies and also thank you for checking Logitech's website.I have a Logitech mouse and i use Firefox too,as i said previously, the mouse pointer problem did not happen again,i hope it will last.
Your help is appreciated, thank you again and have a good weekend.
If the mouse was working previously, Jerome, perhaps you could try a system restore. Maybe there is a software conflict. I don't know if you recently uploaded new software or hardware, but you could go to Device Manager under System in the Control Panel and check to see if there is a problem listed for the mouse and you could click on the properties box and maybe upgrade the driver. Not sure. I don't have the problem though I do have a Logitech mouse and sometimes use Firefox.
Thank you for the reply,Cindy. No,actually the mouse pointer problem did not happen again, there is no problem in device manager under system,i use Windows XP Pro and the generic mouse driver like +TBob.
Unfortunately, the mouse pointer issue happened again,it is weird,it can work fine for a few days then suddenly the issue happens again. The issue seems to be related to Firefox but i cannot be 100 percent sure though,i am using another browser to see if it will happen again.
Jerome, this happens only when using Firefox perhaps you could try disabling all your add-ons. If the mouse works ok then enable them one by one until the culprit is found.
Take a look at Processes in Task Manager when the mouse movement slows and see if anything is taking up a lot of CPU usage
Have you tried clearing the Firefox Cache ?
Do you have sufficient RAM?
Do you have several windows opened within Firefox when this happens ?
Thank you for your interest,LynEve.The issue happens on two computers and each time it happened then it was while using Firefox.
- I have no add-ons so it cannot be that.
- Apparently all is fine in the task manager.
- It does not change anything after clearing the Firefox cache.
- One of my computer has 4 Gigs of Ram and the other has 1 Gig.
- There is just one window opened when it happens.
The same issue still happens,it also happened with Seamonkey about one hour ago so the problem has nothing to do with Firefox. It must be a Windows bug or something strange happens on the internet sometimes and it affects the speed of my mouse pointer,i do not manage to know what the problem is.
If anyone runs into the same issue then let me know, thank you.
I run into a problem all the time with spyware when loging into this site, from the sponcer on the front page, its slows me down a lil , till my progtams block it.. It happens on the front page, or when I go back to the front page
Thank you for the response.Spywares can be really annoying, you are advised to use Spybot search and destroy and Malwarebytes, they are very good anti spywares programs and they are free too.
My problem is not related to spywares,i did a scan with the two previous programs and no spyware has been found, anyway this problem appears again after reformating and reinstalling Windows,it is really weird.
The only fix i found was to reboot the computer and then my mouse pointer worked fine again.
Does someone encounter the same problem? thank you.
