color/bw combo problem

hopefully this is the correct place for this question. i have made a christmas card to send to my friends. the outside of the card has colored writing and a color frame. inside the color frame i have placed a black and white photograph. my problem is that when printing the card, the black and white picture comes out somewhat magenta. i've tried selecting and desaturating. does anyone else have a possible solution? thanks, jen

Perhaps going into hue/saturation, and desaturating the magenta channel?

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

Jeenie - stab in the dark here - but your color frame is Red because it's an Xmas card? Your printer may not be able to handle this and is "ghosting" red over the black & white areas because the cartridges aren't switching the printing off fast enough between color and b&w. Check that possibility before you drive yourself nuts.

Print the picture *without* the frame, and then try using a different color frame (a green or a purple) to see if what you're really dealing with is color drag.

thanks, cat. since i am having so many made, i took it to my friendly neighborhood kinkos and for some reason on their machine it looked like a black and white. you were right, the frame was red. i appreciate the hint.

np Jeenie - they have printers that "know" how to analyze that kind of printing better.

For yourself for future, if you have the option, try slowing down your print speed. That will give the cartridges more time to switch and generally solves "ghosting" problems.
