Does anyone own this lens? I am thinking of buying it instead of the 100mm-400mm. When I had my 70mm-200mm I always had it on 200mm so I am thinking a 300mm prime would be good for my type of work. I would not have to crop the photos from my bird studio as much, and could use an extender if needed for Egret and Heron's that were to far away for the 200mm. I will be buying it in 3 weeks along with a Canon 40D from Amazon or B&H. I will also be getting the Canon 100mm macro later on for the bugs. Have a great day....Gregg.

I guess no one owns this lens. How about the Canon 100mm-400mm lens? I am debating on that one or the 300mm prime.

I am torn between the Canon 100-400 and the Sigma 120-400, both rated really high. Waiting for my tax refund. What to do? Also got 40D.

Thank you Kristof, I think that is the lens I will go with. Outstanding photos you took with it.
