I have a chance to purchase a well taken care of and babied Nikon D70 with a Sigma 70-300 lens, UV filter, 2 GB memory card and lens hood for $400.00.
I need some feed back on this...I have been doing goggle searchs on the camera and it seems to be a great camera....I just would love some user reviews from the people I trust the most.....Caedes Members.

Paul - you bust your chops everyday, going to work and earning money. You can spend this money any way you wish. I have been known to spend mine foolishly and wisely. I spent money on Women, Cars and beer. Most of the time it always bought me a headache. I spent money on a camera and never regretted it. I assume thats wise! You should purchase a camera you enjoy, if it happens to be on sale thats a bargain. Every camera has a usable life span of approx 150000 clicks. Most last longer than that. If you like this Nikon, which by the way happens to be a good camera, check the number of clicks already on the camera. The part of the camera that actually last the longest is the lens. Its easy to argue the minuscule differences in a lens, but if you can use the lens, the glass is clean, there is no mold growing inside. . .go for it. Always place the lens into manual mode and rotate the zoom, it should move easily. If not stay away from it, if you have difficulty moving it with your fingers, how is a little battery driven motor going to do? The camera body lasts the second longest. make sure all function buttons work and there is no mold or visible wear and tear on the body. The batteries and memory card last the least longest. Prices are cheap and they can be replaced easily. The speed of the camera is governed by the memory card. A good Extreme III card will allow you to shoot faster frames. 2GB is plenty. One thing to think about is, does the camera feel good in your hands? are parts and accessories easy to get in your area? And based on your lifestyle, will you really use this camera? Dont buy it just because it at a bargain price, buy it because you are really gona use it. Or are you a P&S type of guy. I happen to know Nikon makes a very good product, I just happen to think Canon is better. I shoot with a 40D. I have NO Regrets in my purchase decision. I hope to hear the same from you. If you have done your homework and you feel good about the price "GO FOR IT".
Then please continue to bust your chops creating fabulous pictures to share.

While trying to create good pictures, I feel as if I am standing on the edge of Insanity. There is a door. I found myself knocking on the door. The door opened.. . . I was knocking from the inside. Oh Rats!

I like this advice from Jerry. Thank you. I use the 40D too and am not disappointed, but I have seen really wonderful high quality images come from the Nikon line of cameras too.

Most of the stuff in my gallery has been taken with a d70 (some of the oldest stuff wasn't). I always liked it, and would recommend it. As i'm sure you know its old. It is lower resolution and suffers from more noise than the current models, but it is still a good starting place. I'm not sure that you are going to want just a 70-300. That is fairly heavily weighted in the telephoto end, so you might be looking at getting another lens too. But 400 bucks for that kit probably isn't a bad price assuming it is all in good condition. I would say the body itself is still worth around 200-300 bucks itself.

The D70 is an excellent camera, I think. You will love it.
