RAW Plugins

I am still learning how to process and save RAW images for uploading...It seems easy for most but I guess I am making it harder than what it is.

My main question is where can I find plugins for CS3 or Elemts 6 that support RAW format? (If I am asking that correctly...if not then please correct me.)

you need a specialised program that supports both RAW editing as well as plugins really - two of which would be Aperture and Lightzone (?) ACR does not support direct plugin actions as its just a conduit from the RAW format to PS or PSE.

When I edit my image in RAW I then open it in CS 3 for further editing...is this the right way to be doing this? I have noticed that it opens in 16 bit color format which disables some of the functions in Elements but not in CS3. Is this the way I should be doing this?

16 bit minimises the damage done to the image data in postwork and also allows for smoother and more natural colour corrections. its fine to work in this mode but you will need to save a copy back into 8 bit of the final image for web and print use. try to do as much fine tuning in the RAW mode as you can before opening and saving it as a rasterised image.

Thanks Phil..that answers my question. I found that if I open CS3 first then the RAW Processor program the came with my camera opens on top of it and allows me to do my processing before going into CS3. It then converts it to 8 bit for me in CS3.
Too cool....A lot less for me to worry about. Thanks again you have been a big help.
