i have lots of old negatives that i'd love to use. i think i can take them and have them put on high res to cds. or, should i buy a negative scanner? i use a mac and would love to find a way to use these old shots from awesome places whose negatives sit (still in protected rolls) in a closet. is there a scanner that you would recommend? advice please?

In the past, I bought a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III
It takes a lot of time and the result wasn't what I expected.
However, my negatives were lined up at the right place...
I think you've to enquire about the prices made by professionals IMO.

I used to use a flatbed scanner with a 'negative' processing attachment!....

Very poor results!....you need a dedicated negative scanner for better work, but as Pierre says...it is hit & miss!...and it can be costly to buy the top models!

Personally, I would take your favourites to a place where they do this well, and get them transferred to disc...they usually do this in both print and negative form at the same time!....
