Well, once again, I am having a problem posting my photo tonight. I have had the Upload running for 42 minutes! And it hasn't loaded, so I quit. I wish I knew what's going on. I began the upload at 11:30, so it should have been ok. Until tonight, its only taken my uploads anywhere from 3 to 6 miutes! My ISP claims its caedes problem, that's the window that shows when I try to load it, and then I try again. Oh well. Anyone got any ideas on this?
Ok, now it is 4:31 and I tried to upload at 4:19 and it still hasn't worked. My ISP is ok, so what is going on? anyone can help me with this at all? please?
Verena, the problem does not appear to be with the site. It seems from all indications that, due to the length of time it is taking for an image of yours to upload though your Internet Service Provider, the server for the site "times out"..that means that it does wait any longer for something that doesn't appear, so it 'shuts down'..
As Phil stated above, no one else has had any problem uploading images.
Hope you are able to resolve your problem. :)
As I mentioned I had the same problem, I haven't managed to upload shots for weeks. I have called my ISP and we tried a lot of things. We thought that the problem could be with my computer and we were right. I haven't cleared the cache and deleted the cookies since I have this computer. Well, I did it(cleared the cache and cookies) and now I am able to upload again. Maybe it is your problem, too. Hope it was helpful.
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, His eternal power and Godhead;... Rom 1:20
I got rid of my cookies and emptied the cache, and I still can't upload. Who is your ISP? Maybe I need to get rid of Earthlink. I did a virus and spyware scan too. I have Zone Alarm and it does real well too, I also have AdAware which is great as well. I did a disk cleaning and I tried to defrag, but it said I don't need it. I try to keep up with all these things.
So maybe its the ISP. I've spoken to Earthlink, but unfortunately they are in India, and it's very hard to understand waht they say. And nothing they told me seemed to help. I tried all they said. Well, let me know who you iSP is ok? thx...v
Verena: I checked your two last uploads (with chicken). Their sizes are really big (1,29 MB and 1,50 MB) for 1800 x 1200 pixels.
Could you try to upload one smaller image, say 1200 x 800 pixels. The size should decrease under 500 kB (0,50 MB).
Maybe your bandwidth is so tiny that the system stops the upload after a certain time. Let's try with a smaller picture.
I also checked one of your first uploads on the site (Hey! Down There!). Its size is... 316 kB for 1280 x 1024 pixels!!!
Maybe your problem comes from the continuous increase of the images sizes...
Hey Miss V. this is just a hot in the dark, but I saw where you have Zone Alarm and AdAware. I have AdAware but I don't run it at start-up (it doesn't run all the time, just when I want to do a scan). I use Free AVG for that and it works great. I also use Firefox broweser with Adblock plus as a plugin.
On Your zone alarm, if you are running it, have you checked to see if your Firewall is turned off in your computer security settings? With Zone alarm and your computer Firewall, you could be double blocked which would slow down everything from downloads and up-loads.
Today I tried to upload at 1200x900 and it still wouldn't do it.
In caedes about postings, it says to post something in the largest size we can and then caedes will adjust it to the smaller sizes. I tried to post at 1800x1371 because someone told me to try that. It didn't help, then I went down to
1600x1219 and that didn't work either. So I went even farther down. What good does it do to upload a small photo when most people have large monitors?
Just now I tried to go to my 'subscriptions' so I could see some comments abut other peoples things and these are the two messages that just came on my computer when I clicked briefly, took about 5 seconds to click, on 'subscriptions' in caedes. First I got one message, which was--- "The server at www.caedes.net is taking too long to respond."--- then I tried again
and the second message came up, and it said ---"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.caedes.net." ---Just thought I'd let someone
know about this. Any ideas on this one?
I just checked my Windows firewall, and it is set on OFF, it says it doesn't recommend this, but it WAS off already. I only run AdAware when I need to, it doesn't come on at start up. I also use Free AVG. I have AdWatch too. So the Computer Firewall
is off, and the Zone Alarm runs on my task bar. Does any of this help you all to know what else can be done? Thx...V
I am on dialup due to how far out in the countryside I am. I wonder if I should get rid of zone alarm? and turn on the windows firewall? I don't know any more.
