A few months ago my mom got two poodles (yuck) and they keep going all over the house and on the deck instead out on the grass where they are supposed to. Its getting to be a pain because whenever they do it we firmly tell them NO and throw them out on the grass, but its obviously not enough. Have any of you like used a different way to housetrain your dogs? I wonder if rubbing their noses into it would help... We have had the dogs about 4 months and you would think that they might have learned better by now...
There's a spray repellent that I used with our pug pups that seemed to work pretty well, at least for certain spots (electrical outlets in the floor) they found interesting.
Then there's the ol' newspaper trick (have them go on it and then gradually start moving the newspapers outside. Then gradually remove completely. I actually turned to using absorbent pads that you can find in pet stores; they worked even better, but cost $$.
I'd suggest buying a book about the training of dogs. It is not really fair to the dog to force it to live with people without letting it know our rules (in a way the dog can understand).
my parents once had some poodles and from what i have seen they are one of the more intelligent species of dog and are very easy to train. as caedes said - get a good book on the subject there are lots to choose from.
