Internet Explorer 8

I had given up Internet Explorer and changed to Firefox soon after Firefox was developed. At that time and since then I found Firefox to be faster, easier and safer than Internet Explorer. Now I have tried out the latest version of Internet Explorer the IE8 and I must say - what a difference. The new IE8 is fast, safe and has many new functions and add-ons. I think I'll stick to IE8 now.

Raj - I am sure that earlier versions Internet Explorer lacked to provide desirable program needs since it was introduced. Out of frustration, a group of people who got tired of waiting for the desired changes to be implemented, decided to produce their own Web Browser called Firefox. Right off the bat it was a hit, and it provided the security and program functions desired by its users for quite some time. Everyone who was capable, contributed with add-ons. Which made it possible to customize Firefox to your personal needs. Internet Explorer went thru eight different changes before they finally equaled the desired functions available in Firefox, ...makes me wonder why would you go back to them, if it took that many tries. I guess it must be a personal preference. I respect your opinion, and I am not trying to argue with you, I am just curious why you would give up a working browser that provides you with desired program effects. I think as a Photo Hobbyist, I would of course experiment, but why would I go back to a process that failed to provide the desired results so many times before. Differences of opinion make the world a interesting place. Thank You for providing me with an outlet for my opinion :)

Hi Jerry - Thanks for your response. I have siad that "I think I'll stick to IE 8 now"- meaning I am not yet 100% sure. I had even got my daughter and granddaughter to use Firefox and had explained to them why. I have not removed Firefox from my PC and still use it now and then. Quoting your example of photo editing progrmmes, I used to use photofiltre studio before but if they now bring out something better than photoshop or even equal to it I have no hesiation in going back to using it. By the way I am not giving up Thunderbird - no way!

Thanks for your opinion on IE8 Raj, I also have been contemplating installing it for the benefit of the other user on my computer. I have several Browsers installed, including Firefox which I dont use often as I find it a resource hog and much to slow on my system.
Maxthon is my all time favourite - it has everything I need and more - is fast, user friendly and far superior to any other I have tried. 200 million+ users agree with me :) Over 1400 plugins make it very versatile

CometBird is another browser I like, and like you I will never give up Thunderbird :)

Raj...I finally download IE8 and so far, I am impressed with many of the features it offers.
I used Firefox for quite awhile and we just didn't seem to agree with each other :)
I have to presume that there are many browsers out there for users to choose from to give us choices..sorta like food.

It doesn't mean that your vegetable is better or mine is rotten, it means we simply have different tastes.

Are you using underhanded tatcics like logic and fairness in your replies. If you are, then BRAVO! to you. You brought out a good point I didnt consider. We need you on our debate team.

Hi Randy, if you are still using IE6 it is high time that you updated your browser! It is not a question of fixing it but keeping the browser up-to-date with all the improvements offered. There have been quite a few improvements in Internet Explorer and you are missing it. Just download IE8 and press the button:)

I've been using IE8 for a few weeks now - it is much faster and much improved and enables you to do a quick search from any word on any page. I have only one problem and it is connected with Caedes - If I click on 'Mark as Read' at the top of each of these threads, it does not work unless I refresh the screen afterwards - hmmmmm - now that is odd. lol!

Patti - if you need to constantly refresh your page to do additional tasks, this may be caused by your firewall or Spyware program. I had the same problem, what a pain it was. So I reconfigured the settings on my Spyware program and Vola! I no longer have this problem. I hope this works for you.

This is not an about-turn but I have now tried out the Beta version 3.1b3 of Firefox. It is really good. I am impartial and am using both now. For those who are interested here is a

Raj - you went to all the trouble to provide the link, so I took time to click on it, and read the results. Interesting stuff, but what does it all mean? Bottom line is this....for those of us who use a Windows based machine, which ever Internet Browser brings you comfort and joy, use it and live in peace. For those of us who dont have time for program excuses and just want to get work done correctly and reliably, get a MAC. Then there are people like me, who have both. I guess I need the problems provided for me with Windows to feel challenged. :)

My godmother is what we will call - not-so-techno-savvy. About 3 weeks ago, I upgraded her from IE6 to IE8 - and almost immediately she began having problems with her GMail (google mail). Within about 4 days, she was completely locked out of her GMail and unable to access it at all, I had her switch over to the new Safari and all the problems magically disappeared. In the meantime I had also logged on to her GMail using Firefox so I suspect this was a direct conflict between IE & GMail & probably her spyware (avg & spybot) somehow.

I know that the problems she describes happening never occur when I am there (regularly), and I suspect that most of them are user generated, but it's been 10 days now and she's had no further conflicts with anything.

I started this thread by praising IE8 but I must admit that I have gone back to Firefox since they introduced the beta version of Firefox 3.5 and now the final version of 3.5. It is great!!!

IE8 is designed for Vista-Windows7,it tends to slow down machines with XP, unless you using Vista I would stay clear of it for now

I have installed Internet Explorer 8 since april or may but when i try to open a mail from Hotmail (without being connected to the internet) then it does not work anymore, there is only a blank page.I tried to open it on my brother's laptop,he has installed Internet Explorer 8 too and it works on his computer,it is really anything,i did not change any options of Internet Explorer 8,the options are the default options.

I uninstalled Internet Explorer 8 then i reinstalled it but it still does not work,i think something has been changed in the Windows registry so it is hard to know how to fix this problem, does anyone encounter the same issue?

Thank you LynEve.Actually,i do not encounter the same problem, the problem i have is when i save a mail from Hotmail and then i try to open it with Internet Explorer 8 without being connected to the internet,it does not work, there is a blank page and a yellow exclamation mark in the lower left corner.

It is not a big problem but i asked as i thought perhaps someone would encounter the same problem.

Thank you for the link though.

Have a nice friday.
