I don't recall seing any posts for video feed, so I was wondering if there are some people on caedes interested in this too. Are there? I am not too involved myself, although I have done a project or two's worth of editing.
I'm currently doing a Digital Video project. Latter in January I'll be putting together a workshop on Digital Audio.
Right now a freind and I are still storyboarding and trying to conjure up a script. We're both amateurs and have only just started filming together this last month. The project is a documentary video project sponsored by....well...a whole bunch of people.
Sorry, no experience here. A friend of mine just bought a Canon, GL2 I believe. He is really happy about it, even though it hasn't come quite yet. He told me that after three starter projects by himself to help pay for the beast, he wants me to help film and edit weddings and similar stuff. It sounds fun to me! (although I would prefer still-shots...) Is there anything I should know?
When you start shooting footage it's always a good idea to leave a good 5-10 seconds more on the tail end of a shot. (somtimes before a shot) That way you always have enough to work with when you're editing. Especially when you do pans. You really need those extra seconds at the end to play with in editing. Unless it's a straight cut; transistions take time.
weddings can be a pain to film due to them being fairly dark with light streaming in from windows from opposite sides, only real advice i can give on this is the obvious stuff try and be as close to the action as you can (without getting in everyone elses way), visit the place where the event is happening before hand and remember to check the weather report so you know in advance if your likely to be able to film some material outside. also a note some places mic everyone involved so they can be heard through the hall if possible get a feed from that rather than trying to get sound from your normal mic.
