I thought I'd suggest a slight change. It seems that for now the VB is still going to be a site fixture. Also, some people are posting vote-exempt images.
Here then, is what I propose; change or add search parameters to the drop down menus. Currently, there's only 3: date posted, random order, and C-index. Perhaps adding view/download #'s, or artist, or whatever else, there would be a more consistant message sent of the insignificance of an image's score.
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
Well, I was wondering about the search by artist, and began wondering, why not an index of artists, perhaps as a separate feature?
Also semi-related, was wondering if threads could be given a views/responses counter. It might be somewhat effective in showing how many people are seeing a certain thread, getting it's message,etc... or not ;-)

"Omnipotent Wielder of the Gilded Shutter (OWotGS)"
"Honorable Knight of the Digital Arts (HKotDA)"
The thought here is that the possessors of these honorable titles have demonstrated exemplary work in their fields/genres. As evidenced, typically, by their entire body of imagery.
And since 'sorting' is, at it's roots, there as an option for the visitors ... why not let visitors have another way of sorting/searching for the creme de la creme?
I view them as, but one of the 'brass rings' of our beloved site. (And of course, they look good on the creative resume. ;o) )

I take it from this thread that I have concluded correctly, there is no way to search for a particular artist. Is that right? Also, someone wrote to me and asked that I view one of their photos and gave me the name of it. I can't figure out how to find that photo. Is there a way to search for it? I see options on her User Info page for Sending a Personal Message, View her Favorites, Complain, and Add to Friends List, it seems like it would be nice to have a button for seeing a list of her photos.

There is also 'wallpaper search' under Navigation on the left. From my experience, it will find a user if you have the full user's name, or a portion of the image title. It searches titles and description text. I have tried to search for part of a user's name, but this does not seem to work.

Great! Thanks! I could not tell that the stacked Polaroid's were a link! Also the Wallpaper Search and the member's name link are very helpful! I appreciate the great help!
