For some unknown reason I've completely lost the ability to upload images and I'm at my wits end as to why. Whenever I try to upload an image, all starts ok and it appears to be uploading until the very last minute, when I get told that the server cannot be found. This use to happen a while ago but the image would actually upload?
Does anybody out there have any ideas what the problem could be, before my computer takes the full force of my wrath!

Aaah! I am running XP, have recently installed SP2 and use IE. I've never had any problems browsing apart from this and I'm sure I've uploaded images since installing SP2. How did you get round the problem, does it involve yet another download or is it possible to uninstall SP2?

I fit all the above descriptions and haven't had any trouble. Sorry I have no help to offer, if I were a guru, I would. Just out of curiosity, can't other methods of exploring the internet be used? Firebox? Mozilla? I am just copying names I have read on this site...

if ur in SP2, make sure there are no other connections besides caedes at the point of upload

Sp2 has a connection cap of 10 connections

I got rid of sp2 this sounds a bit extreme but once I did this problem and several little annoying glitches I was having went away. But like stuffnstuff mentioned there are other browsers and if you decide to use one I think firefox works the best, I used to use it before I loaded sp2 so I couldn't tell you how it works on top of sp2.No matter what browser you use there will be little annoyances.Another thing is after you load sp2 the windows firewall is on,now I use ZoneAlarm and when the default windows firewall and ZA was on together it seemed to make the problem worse so I turned off the windows one.

Another solution: You give up IE and take Mozilla Firefox

Yet another solution: Dump Windows altogether. Get a Mac.

you dont have to have mozilla for smooth internet, or a different OS
I use windows XP pro, service pack too, and I use the internet explorer that came with SP2 (the one that allows your to manange add ins, popup blocks etc). I run quickly and smoothly, After 2 months with SP2 I checked adaware and had no notifications. I ran virus scan and had no viruses. I dont use windows firewall, I am behind an NAT router, but I have DMZ enabled for my PC.

If you keep windows updated, and browse intelligently (dont click popups, visit sites like warez, download a bunch of free adware), then windows and IE work just fine. My IE loads much faster than Mozilla firefox, takes less cpu time, and memory.

my IE starts instantly (literally), when i first installed firefox it started up instantly as well, the next day, and from then on, it takes about 5-8 seconds to load.

must have something to do with the cache, ie how much it stores, and if it has to bring it up on ram all the time. i know i have ALOT in my cache, ie if i've downloaded a picture recently, if i click it again it simply brings it up from my HD. i bet messing with those settings would enhance your performance, in browsing and startup speed.

Windows XP has its problem but over all it does what its designed for pretty good, that is lets people that dont know alot about computing do alot of stuff fairly easily.Ive tried Mozilla and Netscape both and I just never cared for the newer versions just to buggy for me.I used to love Netscape until IE 4 came out after that I never switched back IE is just to easy to use.

agreed, my cache is large, and I have two 45 gig hard drives so that shouldnt be an issue.
