Hello all, after a bit of advice. I recently format my PC after backing up my files to an external drive. Unfortunatly all my backed up photos are corrupt and althought they all show as thumb nails none of them will open. I am currently running get data back on one of my drives where the original pictures were but this is not paying off yet, does any one know if my jpegs can be repaired? Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Wish I had some answer to offer you. Unfortunately, all I've got is the lame suggestion to try looking it up in google. Or.. have you already?

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

See if THIS is what you need.

I am unsure as well. Good luck!

Thankfully got this problem sorted, by chance I downloaded the program that Mimi has suggested and now Im a happy chappy. Its going to take a while to go though my pictures as they date back to 2001. I am kicking myself that I put all my faith in an external hard drive alone and now I will be backing up on DVD as well. I would just like to thank you for your support, this forum rocks.

Hey Bri, Were you by chance trying to transfer files from an external HD to a PC running Vista? If so, you will need to take ownership of the pictures/files before transferring them to Vista. See here .

Hope this helps in the event you have the same problem later on.
