Does anyone know what new computers come with Windows Xp? or just Windows and NOT VISTA?? I see that many of my programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, my HP Scanner, are NOT compatible with Vista...any information you can give would be helpful. I need to make a decision right away.
I have my old computer, the one I am using at the moment. I have found out that many things are NOT compatible with Vista. I can't afford to buy all that new . At the moment I have a Compaq(HP) new computer sitting here, it comes with Vista, and in four months they will change over to WIndows 7, but I need to be able to use my programs now. I have the Xp CD from this computer i use now. You mean format the drive I have in my old puter into the new one? I am not doing it, but my son in law will. I just need to make sure of what to do.
V, I am not a computer geek but I can tell you my experience; I have a relatively new Dell, with Vista, and I run my PSP and PS2 with no compatibility problems. My scanner, however is a different story. It does not work!!
I finally figured out I can get a Windows XP conversion kit that will go right on top of Vista! As far as the scanner, you can go to the Vista site and it's possible they can tell you how and where to get a new driver for the scanner. Here is a website that might be of help.
There is at least one company over here that builds your pc for you to your own specifications ( and are very good value as well). You can specify, still, whether you want Vista (now with a free upgrade to Windows 7 in October) or XP. Maybe it's worth doing some work on Google to find a similar company in The States. It's called pcspecialist.co.uk
I talk to others who say Vista is another MS "boo boo"...like Millenium Edition was...I had nothing but disaster with ME...I don't know if I'd want to go to Vista...even if I had money for a new computer...I'd probably go with XP Pro...or wait until they fully proved Win7...Maybe even go Mac...
Vista is a total joke,an they couldent market it very well, due to alot of compatuablity issues,an Windows 7 will end up the same I feel,to much of what you dont need in an expensive package, an most computers in use will not be able to run Win7 due to alot of issues. ( 1. 4 Gigabites of ram required??? )
I went ahead and bought a Windows XP to load on top of the VIsta. So I will either keep it or try the Windows 7, not sure. I've always liked Windows Xp, I used to have XP Pro and loved it. I don't have the new computer up yet, my son in aw had to go on a trip, but soon I'll learn how to install the programs too. I think it'll be fun to do that. Can hardly wait to get rid of this huge ol' monitor of mine, and go to that nice flat screen. I do love my keyboard tho, so I won't even use the new one. I use a ergonomic one. V
There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is! ~DeGriff
Some people do not have many problems with Windows Vista,it depends on the computer, there are many different PC configurations, such program will work fine on such PC but it will not work fine on such other PC.
As someone who likes technology, I'm always hesitant to stay with an older Operating System. The real problem with the long life of Windows XP is that hardware designed from when XP was new is unlikely to work with future Operating Systems.
I've tested out the Windows 7 Beta and Release Canadate, and it seems to be a lot more compatible with older hardware and software than Vista was/is.
Unfortunately, it does become necessary at times to get new hardware, and I, as much as anyone else, very much dislike that situation.
