Open for the NEW CONTEST suggestions. Any input would be appreciated, especially the specific day and the time frame. I personally would gravitate toward any time within the twenty-four hour cycle of New Years Day. Let me or the other mods know so we can get the contest going in time.

CAEDES CHRISTMAS CONTEST!

Announcing the “A Day in the Life of Caedes” contest, with many thanks to Mum42 for coming up with this unique view of the world! The contest is open to all members with a limit of two entries and a submission deadline of January 5th, 2005. The images should be photographs or photographic manipulations or abstracts that best express the entrant’s view or interpretation of the time and place – limited to the 24-hour cycle of 4pm (1600) December 24th through 4pm (1600) December 25th, 2004. This local time frame is to accommodate traditions in the US and abroad, so that both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations can be acknowledged.

Entries will be judged on content and originality, as well as artistic and technical merit. The judges will also be looking for works that best describe Christmas Eve and Day in a time, place, and situation unique to the author. All submissions must be of images taken within the specified 24-hour period, and brief descriptions are encouraged.

Financial Suggestion for Caedes administrators

I have a suggestion for the admistrators of the site. I hope that they will see this. In order to finance this site, it occured to me that they might get all of the financing that they could dream of, if they contacted the computer graphics program companies (ie Bryce, PhotoShop, JASC/Corel ect) and asked for support with the site in-so-much as they are actively recruiting new users of their products via this site. This would give you the clout to provide them with a profitable service in exchange for management funding without having to become an advertiser. You could offer to have a subfile in the "suggested Software file" in which links to their ordering and advertising could be obtained for the interested. This would leave the site as it is, and with an independant administration and free user interface, while permanently solving any financial realities. I am sure that once the companies reviewed your site, they would see the advantages of arm's length financial support for the site. This is exactly what Micorsoft did with Hotmail except that (as is the case with Microsoft) they bought and obsorbed Hotmail.
Face it...... a new graphics user is a new graphics program client. The profit and logic become elementary.

Thanks for the suggestion Alej. Might I suggest starting a new topic instead of posting your ideas on unrelated ones? We have considered such revenue streams in the past, however site the site is currently self-sufficient I'm not in a big hurry to pursue such a time-intensive task as your suggest.
