Why can't we have a chatroom here? Most other community-besed/special interest sites tend to have one...True, it may involve the added inconvenience of a moderator to monitor chat activity, but I believe there are enough clear and mature-minded members here to maintain some kind of balance and "keep the peace"...against some of the "upstarts" that may venture in...
I realize this may not be the best idea, thanks to the activity on places like old AOL and Yahoo Chat/IM, and of course... the do-it-yourself-web-page accsess sites like MySpace and all the MySpace format HTML "clones"...but it would be a bit more convenient than the existing PM options...

The site used to have a chat room... not sure what became of it though. It used to be located under "Other Stuff". I too, would like to see it return again.
Like I said...it may NOT be feasable...as I have seen over the years what tends to become of chatrooms when they are not properly administered/moderated...There could be a certain time the chatroom is available, however...

The chat room was set up by one of the site members. I don't think I've seen them around for a while. I don't think it was used that often and just sort of petered out. Maybe you could establish another one though?
I think that decision mainly is with Geri and the members of the Senate (including yourself)...and they finalize what is and isn't to be...Chat is kind of "risky" and demands strict moderation these days...

Ah the good ol' chat room with the ghostgirl haunting the room.. lol.. it works for me too.. maybe the boss can put the chatroom link on the left side panel where he has discussion board, contest etc.. that way its easy to access
It used to be located in "other stuff", with a link to two different versions of chat (Java and another). However, I think a link on the front page would be most ideal.
Another thing, would it be for registered users only, or would anyone have access to it?

Tealeaves: to the best of my knowledge the chatroom was set up by a caedes member on his own initiative and is completey independant from caedes. Anyone who logged on to the chatroom could use it. However it's unlikely anyone outside caedes would do it.
i'm sure you had to use your Caedes.net ID.. i think for awhile it was open to anyone who signed in (pretty sure you could sign in as a guest) then it was changed to Caedes ID only but like Mimi.. i could be wrong too
