Too bad

As it has become obvious that this is rather a cliquish site: an average photo can receive very high marks;a great photo can receive poor ones............likely due to a group praising each others' works regardless of real merit and/or feeling obligated to rate a "friends" work high to keep the game going (you scratch my back......) Too bad, as this COULD be a place where teaching and honest appraisal occur. To see my Evening Rush go from a high of 64 to now 57 is blatant rudeness and is certainly not reflective of real skill at critiquing based solely on the image. That photo is as good as many of the genre that have received high ratings.
I bid you farewell. No need to reply as I will not be coming back. Paul

Paul, I will reply for any member who may get confused.

Voting is done without any name attached to the image. What the comments state below an image do not always reflect the actual score.

In addition, the scores on images change as more people vote.
You might want to give the site/artists a better chance to view your work than the 2 weeks you have been here.

As the holidays approach, the site does not always have as much traffic as usual since people are busy preparing for it.

We would like to see you stay around and let us know you ad your art better. :=)
We hate to see you leave so angry.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to send me a PM (personal message).

For further clarification it should also be noted that few people have ever been happy with the "C index" voting/scoring of images. The subject has been beaten to death in these forums for years. Also; this is not a photography web site, it is a desktop wall paper site. Voting and most comments are based on personal likes and dislikes, not on technical merit. We could really use more people with a clear positive critiquing style like Paul exhibited in the comments he made on others images.

Paul made the usual mistake of taking a non-personal vote personally a number that in the end is just a number that means almost nothing. His photo Evening Rush is an excellent shot in my opinion. He failed to realize that a 57 is a positive score. It says people found the image "above average". The 64 vote indicates that at least some of the early voters even found the shot to be exceptional.

The site owner and volunteers work hard to keep the site clean, positive, and welcoming to all comers. In all the time I have been on the site I have never been disappointed in their efforts.

And again some one is over the top because of the C-index. :oP

What's with you people and your C-index?

@ Paul...you only have been here for 2-3 weeks and already leaving because of a low C-index ..*btw 57 isn't that bad*..

I repeat some of your words here...

"....Too bad, as this COULD be a place where teaching and honest appraisal occur..."

This site is a good pleace to learn from eachother.

You can see a negative comment or low C-index as a constructive criticism and it can help you to get better in taken pictures.

Introduce yourself by giving comments on pictures of other members, we all started here as a new member, you just have to give it some time.

Would be a pitty to see you leave and not have given it a chance to become a part of this community.

With reference to the quote that Twinks repeated above.. this IS a learning site, when I came on here members were only too happy to give critic and feedback on my work along with suggestions on how to make it look better and still do help, all it takes is a PM to ask questions..

In my opinion art and photography is always a learning process no matter how "good" you are there is always something new to learn.. Its a shame that your leaving after such short time.. a score of 57 is definately above average and nothing to be sneezed at..

as he mentioned - he hasn't returned so I don't really see the point in addressing him in replies with issues that have already been covered - at great length - in many other discussions or for that matter leaving insulting or inflammatory posts that only go towards proving his original point. case closed me thinks.
