I have recently had an email from Best of Artists and Kennedy Publishing saying how I have been juried into their wonderful book. However, I still need to pay $45 to enter the contest but I do get a book (I think, or I have to pay another $42 for the pleasure). It looks like a competition but has the feel of a scam along the lines of photo laureates. If it isn't I apologise. Anyone else seen this?

Even if they're a different company.. sounds like the same basic scam..

How would you be asked, in a legit contest or "best of" book to pay for your entry? If anything, they'd be requesting your permission to use your work, and be sending you a free copy, as their thanks.

I received that same info many years ago, and did much research on that and it was a definite scam. You pay for the book, they take the money, they make ONE copy for you and that's all. And no one else will ever see it but you. You could get it done yourself without THEM making money off you!! lol Verena
