Grainy Photograph..help?

Hey,

I took a photograph that I really like and want to make into a wallpaper but it was on my camera phone so it's not great quality.
I have Photoshop and Neat Image but neither as yet have helped much.
Can anyone tell me a program or PS technique that might help me sort out the low/grainy quality?

Hi Bonnie - here is what I did. I took a picture with my 2mp cell phone and tried to blow it up to a larger size with different programs. I also made sure I took it in slightly dark location so that I would have grain in the picture. Of course I tried neat image, on-one and some other not so well known programs. Guess what, No Luck, there is still pixelazation. I tried to see just how much photoshop can do with unique filters. No Luck, just goes to show that crummy cannot be turned into gold. There may be the possibility of some not so well known plugin that is expensive and can do the job. I have no doubt that there are services out there that are capable of doing this. So it brings up another interesting question, just how much is this picture worth to you? I wish I could be of help, but overall I found that while there is a way to increase the picture size, there is no reasonable way to increase the detail to improve quality. Now it is time to scold you and shake my finger at you while saying "always bring your good P&S camera with you" :) If I run into anything I will let you know. Moose

Thanks Moose, it is quite important to me as it is a holiday reminder and a great night..and I really like the photo.
Sadly I did not have my camera with me and am also kind of glad I didn't as it was a heavy drinking night lol

I do not expect it to suddenly come out wonderfully but a little clean up would help no end.

Hi Bonnie: a night full of heavy drinking, and a cell phone camera. Now you have my curiosity activated. There is a small little known program called PLiska Image resizer that is free, and easy to use, combined with neat image it did a fairly well job of making a respectable photo for wallpaper. You need to download from this site www.pedroliska.com/ please read about the program developer, so that you can determine if you have confidence in downloading the program or not. Again the program is free, and works quite well. By using this program you will save enough money to go out drinking for several nights. :) Good luck, and please share back if it worked for you. Well I had doubts but downloaded it.
I never had a problem with sizing and it's still not really enough quality.
I tried Neat Image again and cannot seem to find a happy medium, grainy or blurred.
I wanted to upload the wallpaper here but I'm just not sure its enough quality to bother which saddens me somewhat.
