would it be possible to work an equipment box into a users profile, or possibly onto each photo to see what they used to take a picture/all their pictures? sometimes i am interested to know what kindof camera someone is useing, but cant without PMing them, but by the time they respond i've forgotten why i was interested. could this suggestion be considered as a little add on to this site?

Yes, I could add the feature, however I don't really want to (in the interest of keeping the interface for editing and uploading as simple as possible. There is no reason that you can't include such information in the image description or the projects field of your profile.

it seems to me that equipment woudl be a more used field than projects, i've hardly seen any profiles with a project filled in, yet i know everybody has to have some sort of equipment.

just my perspective anyways, i dont think its really a big deal to the site

I think it would be useful as well. Caedes, what do you mean by keeping the interface for uploading as simple as possible?

I mean that the description field should be sufficient to include any pertanant information about the image. I'm sure that some people could find a special field for listing the type of music that you were listening to at the time, however for most people it would be unneeded and would make the image upload process that more complex.

I'm thinking that they don't mean adding this to the image upload process, but rather to the User Page portion.

Also, isn't that information embedded in a digital file anyway? Is there no way to simply retrieve that information and display it automatically?

not if you open in an editor, then resave to a differnt file, i've found that photoshop at least will kill the exif info once saved to a different filename.

ya editing an image will erase the exif more often than not, also many cameras dont write full info on the exif or use exif data atall, AND alot of the images on the site are scanned from prints or film.
