Views and Downloads compared to C Index

I wanted to make a point of just how "useless" (IMHO) the C Index is in comparison to the much more important fact of this being a wallpaper site. That means people come thru here by the hundreds, look at what they want for their desktop, grab what they love, and then leave. Today on the main page was a posting done in the year2004 by someone we all know...=Samatar What's amazing is that on the photo posting called "Shameless Self Promotion" there were 4985 Views of this creation, and there
were 2020 Downloads! What a great amount of people who saw and downloaded this. But....there was a low C Index score of 44 !!
If you take a look at the awesome creation done on this posting, you will clearly see the importance of Views and Downloads. I just wanted to show this example, because the
C Index is always a "topic for discussion"...lol. Thanx for reading this and I hope it helps those that wonder about that scoring...and maybe it helps them to see there is so much more importance on that and not the cIndex. Thanx...Verena

Keep in mind that image has been on the site for several years so naturally views and downloads are going to be higher. Whereas anything new will always start with very low numbers (zero in fact).

Personally I don't enter my images into the voting booth any more and that suits me fine. I think giving people the option to opt out is the perfect solution. I never paid much attention to the c-index after my first year or so on the site, though at the beginning it was very important to me...

If my memory serves me right that would be because way back a few years ago they changed the voting system due to people abusing the system.. all images had the C index wiped and started over again to give images... as for the C index discussion that has been flogged to death and i'm pretty sure there would be a discussion about this somewhere on here..

If i'm wrong i'm sure one of the mods will be by to correct me ;)

I agree Sam, the numbers do increase as the years go by. And I am very thankful we are "allowed" to choose whether we want a
c index rating or not. I liked that change very much. I'm not trying to start yet another thread on this subject. I just like the idea of people realizing that the views and downloads are SO much more important. V

I usually pay attention to d'loads and views, being that there are non-members that browse many different wallpaper/art websites as well...
