i use one when i remember to bring it, ugh....read a lot of articles on the use of one, but i can't find any describing the correct angles to hold one, anyone got a good website or want to share their thoughts, thanks...

I don’t use mine in any special fashion. I just attach it to the lens's tripod mount (I use it mainly with my 300 or 400), and hold the camera body normally with one hand. The other hand is supporting the lens. Some people use a ball-head on their monopods, but I don't bother.
